New York, New York - It is no secret that Ghislaine Maxwell desperately wants her get-out-of-jail card. But after previous attempts have failed, the British socialite is now offering to give up her UK and French citizenship in exchange for her freedom.

The ex-girlfriend of convicted pedophile and sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein (†66) is resorting to extreme measures to prove that she's not a flight risk.

"Ms. Maxwell will renounce her French and British citizenship to eliminate any opportunity for her to seek refuge in those countries, if the Court so requires," her lawyers wrote in documents filed in Brooklyn federal court Tuesday, as reported.

While awaiting trial on charges of grooming Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking victims in the mid-1990s, the 59-year-old has made two previous bail-out attempts. Both of them were denied, partly because the judges feared she might flee to the UK or France.

Epstein was imprisoned on July 6, 2019, on charges of sex trafficking and abuse of dozens of minors in Florida and New York. While awaiting his trial, he committed suicide in prison on August 10 that year.

Maxwell was arrested in early July, on charges with six counts, including recruiting underage and young women for Epstein to sexually abuse between 1994 and 1997.

The charges each carry maximum sentences of five to 10 years in prison. Maxwell, however, denied aiding and abetting in court in mid-July and pleaded not guilty.

Maxwell has remained incarcerated in a Brooklyn jail without bail since July last year.

Recently, she claimed through her lawyer that a guard physically abused her as she was undergoing a pat-down search in her isolation cell.
