According to CSI Miami, 41-year-old Jeanette Barbara Valle-Tejeda molested the minor for a period of four years.

The victim told police that the reading teacher's abuse started when she was only 14 years old and still in middle school in 2009 and continued until she turned 18.

Valle-Tejeda allegedly took on the role of a mother figure, even signing the teenager out of school to spend time together.

She provided for the minor financially, let her stay at her house all the time, and even had her sleep over on several occasions. The teacher showered with the girl, kissed her, and ultimately took advantage of the child sexually.

Other students who have since come forward and reported cases of sexual harassment on the part of Valle-Tejeda have also been confirmed by police.

"Miami-Dade County Public Schools is deeply disturbed about the allegations made against this individual," the Miami-School District said in a statement, also announcing that the woman has been removed from the school setting.

"The District will be terminating her employment and she will be prevented from seeking future work with this school system."
