NBA: Lakers aren't pretty but still bring down the Magic in Orlando

Orlando, Florida - The Los Angeles Lakers didn't play the prettiest of games, but they got a much-needed win, as they eventually took care of the Magic on Monday night.

The Lakers were sometimes sloppy and always vulnerable, but still got the job done last night, ending a four-game skid by beating the Magic 114-103.

Anthony Davis (28) was still making his way back to top form in just his third game back from a calf injury and he helped the Lakers continue their push for a title defense, with the playoffs looming in the not too distant future. Compensating for the continued absence of LeBron James, Davis did his part scoring 18 points and eight rebounds in a winning effort.

The first half was a back-and-forth affair, with the Lakers coming out strong, with a 12-point lead after quarter number one. But the Magic answered back, putting up 40 points to LA's 22 and taking a 56-50 lead into the half. The game stayed tight throughout the third, with the Lakers pulling away with 35 points in the fourth to come away with the win.

Dennis Schroder, who has also stepped up for the Lakers during LeBron's layoff, scored a game-high 21 points and ten assists. And Andre Drummond also contributed with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

For the Magic, Chuma Okeke led the way with 18 points, five rebounds, and two assists. Guard Gary Harris pitched in with 17 points, while Cole Anthony scored 15 in a losing effort.

On Wednesday, the Lakers are in DC to take on the Wizards, while the Magic are in Cleveland to square off against the Cavaliers.
