Brooklyn, New York - The Milwaukee Bucks turfed out the Brooklyn Nets on their own floor and advanced to the Eastern Conference finals after a series that had it all.

Giannis Antetokounmpo (26) led the way for the Bucks as they finally won a series game in Brooklyn 115-111, clinching the deciding game in a semifinal series that went all the way to overtime.

Giannis had a monster game with 40 points, 13 rebounds, and five assists as his team made big plays and held firm to hold off Kevin Durant, James Harden, and the rest of the Nets. Nets guard Kyrie Irving was still out of the lineup, dealing with an injured ankle he hurt in Game 4.

Durant almost stole the show with a record 48 points, the highest ever in a Game 7 in NBA history. Similar to his performance in the previous matchup, Durant played all 53 minutes of the game and had the ball was in his hands more than anyone. Towards the end of the contest though, fatigue set in, and Durant was off the mark when his team needed it most, including two crucial shots missed in the final seconds of overtime.

The most important shot from Durant was a long two-pointer that tied the game in the fourth quarter to bring on overtime. From there, Brooklyn could only make just one more basket in the extra period as the Bucks gained just enough of a lead to finish off the Nets.

Like many game sevens, this game was tight on the scoreboard with a lot of physical play thanks to the referees letting the play flow. The game was never quite a runaway for either team and the biggest lead was 10, held by the Nets shortly before halftime.

In the end, it all came down to making the important shots when it mattered the most.

The Bucks have finally gotten a chip off of their shoulders in the postseason

Milwaukee has had disappointing ends to their previous playoff runs in recent years. Just last year, they were knocked out in the semifinals by the eventual Eastern Conference champions, the Miami Heat, leaving them hungry for a better outcome this time around. In this series, the Bucks weren’t given much of a chance to advance, but that was mainly because no one anticipated the Nets to lose Harden or Irving for half of the games.

In any event, they’ve proven themselves more than worthy of their place and will now wait for either the 76ers or the Hawks in the Conference finals, which tip off on Wednesday night.
