NBA: Warriors keep marching on after blowing out the Blazers at home

San Francisco, California - The Golden State Warriors are still the best team in the NBA after a dominating show of force at home against the Portland Trail Blazers extended their winning streak to six games.

The Warriors beat the Blazers 118-103 on Friday night, inflicting on Portland a second-straight loss and a third losing streak of the season.

The Blazers, who’ve won just one game on the road this season, came out and played hard to start the game, only trailing the Warriors by one heading into the second quarter.

But Portland then lost its grip on the game by only coming up with 18 points, while Golden State dropped 31 to extend their lead to 14 at halftime.

The Warriors continued to roll through the third quarter, sitting pretty with a 21-point advantage as the action went into the fourth.

The Blazers did outscore the Warriors in the final period, but it was nowhere near enough as time ran out.

Golden State’s sharpshooter Steph Curry (33) was scoring at his usual monster levels for the Warriors.

His team’s leading scorer, Curry also tops the NBA in scoring with 28.4 points per game.

He had yet another impressive night, taking most of his shots from behind the three-point line and making six of those shots, more than any other player in the game. This is peak Curry, scoring the kind of shots that most players wouldn't even dream of taking.

Curry finished the night shooting 12-for-25, 32 points, eight assists, and seven rebounds.

The Warriors are definitely the team to beat, not just in the Western Conference, but the entire league.

Only the Suns seem to be able to keep up at the moment, with their jaw-dropping 15-game winning streak giving them a chance to possibly take over the top spot.

Still, Golden State clearly has the edge in this particular battle, since Phoenix doesn't have anyone who can shoot the ball nearly as masterful as Curry does. Frankly, now one does.

What's more, Warriors forward Klay Thompson just recently had his first full practice since tearing his Achilles a year ago and could be back soon after that. That’ll give Golden State a one-two punch that could help distance themselves from even the other contenders across the league.

On Sunday, the Warriors will be on the road to take on the Clippers while on Monday, the Blazers head to Utah to face the Jazz.
