The Avalanche got into a tough game against the Blues, but fought hard with 3 goals in the second period, pulling away from the Blues for the 4-3 win.

Apart from the Maple Leafs, who have been up there with the Avs for the NHL's top spot, Colorado has had the record over the last 20 games, losing only once and tying twice.

Avs wingers J.T. Compher (25) and Mikko Rantanen (24) both scored for Colorado, also notching an assist each. Pierre-Edouard Bellemare and former Chicago Blackhawk Brandon Saad also lit the lamp once each. And center Liam O'Brien helped out with 2 assists in the winning effort.

Colorado's new goalie Devan Dubnyk made 31 saves and held firm in the closing seconds against St. Louis's extra attacker to seal the win for the Avs.

For the Blues, Mike Hoffman scored twice and had an assist, and defenseman Vince Dunn added the third St. Louis goal.

The Avalanche head home to face the Kings, while the blues head out to the desert for a game against the Coyotes.

After waiting an extra day in Minneapolis, the Wild beat the Coyotes 5-2.

The Flames are on a hot streak, getting their third straight victory over the Canadiens 4-1. And the Jets scored two in the third period to get past the Senators 3-2.

Jonathan Quick wasn't so fast Wednesday night and he got pulled after giving up three first-period goals as the Kings were rolled over by the Golden Knights 6-2.

And out west, The Ducks nearly had a repeat of last night's shutout, but still got a 4-1 win over the Sharks.

The Devils take another shot at the Rangers on Thursday night, while Toronto hopes to avoid a 3-game skid when they face off against the Jets.
