The Pittsburgh Penguins are one of the better performing teams in the NHL, so it came as a shock Tuesday as they allowed six third-period goals, just edging out a 7-6 win against one of their division's lower teams, the Devils.

The Pens came out of the gate with tons of pressure, scoring four unanswered goals in the first period. One of which was scored by newcomer Jeff Carter (36), who was acquired last week via trade with the Kings. They added two more in the second and for all intents and purposes, it seemed like they would skate off with an easy win.

The Devils had other ideas, once the third period got underway. Only seconds in, Nico Hischier started a three-goal rally made things interesting. The Penguins got one more goal thanks to Sidney Crosby, in between another three-goal effort by New Jersey before finally shutting it down for the win.

For the Devils, Andreas Johnsson, Yegor Sharangovich, Nathan Bastian, Nolan Foote, and Jack Hughes also scored along with Hischier in their valiant attempt at a shocking comeback.

Evan Rodrigues, Brian Dumoulin, Mike Matheson, Teddy Blueger, and Bryan Rust each scored a goal for Pittsburgh, while Jared McCann helped out with two assists.

Both of these teams are back at it, once again in Pittsburgh, on Thursday night.
