Baby with Batman birthmark, Luna Fenner, gets miracle surgery

Fort Lauderdale, Florida - When Floridian Luna Fenner was born, her parents were extremely worried about the birthmark, which covered the majority of their baby's face in the shame of a Batman mask.

Having established that the pigmentation disorder was not dangerous, doctors diagnosed Luna Fenner's Batman birthmark as being an extremely large, but completely benign moles.

It was determined that the Batman birthmark would have absolutely no negative health impact upon Luna Fenner. That didn't, however, make it any less ideal.

Worried about the potential stigma which her daughter might face, Luna Fenner's mother Carolina wanted to make sure that Luna would never have to hide her appearance to avoid cruel mockery.

To make her little one's story known, Carolina set up accounts for Luna on various social media networks and regularly posted photos of her child online, with the goal to make people understand Luna's condition.

Luna is now two-years-old and has nearly 300,000 followers on Instagram alone. Her account, @luna.love.hope, features videos and picture of the playful two-year-old radiating confidence and joyful energy.

Miracle treatment in Russia removes Luna Fenner's Batman birthmark

Many followers have also supported the family via their GoFundMe page by providing financial assistance for her complicated treatments.

Her mother Carolina looked around the country for options, but only found expensive and invasive procedures to remove the birthmark. Eventually, the family discovered a medical expert in Russia who performs laser and skin grafts, according to Local 10 News.

Since she started her treatment, Luna is barely recognizable. The first major procedure was a huge success, with most of the Batman birthmark now gone. The therapy is expected to last a total of 18 months, with eight painless interventions during that time.

In the meantime, Luna's Instagram still shares what life is like for her and her family, as they spend time living in Russia and learning about local culture in between medical visits.

Their social media fame has also helped them get consulate permission to stay in Russia until Luna's treatments are complete.

Mother and daughter are now about to embark on their fifth trip abroad. The next step will be to treat the remnants of the mole around Luna's eyes and eyebrows. Luna doesn't seem to mind how she looks, though, and is always full of giggles and cheer.
