Cat mom tries out "stranger danger" cat prank in hiss-terical TikTok

A cat mom tested out "the cat prank" on her own pet, and the result has millions of TikTok users laughing along with the joke.

The cat can't believe what it sees: suddenly a second cat peeps out from behind the corner - but it's only made of paper.

As Natalia Hurtado de Mendoza proves, her cuddly cat obviously doesn't appreciate any competition in her home.

In a funny new video posted to her social media channels, Natalia outfits her pad with a small addition: she's attached a cutout photo of her black cat's face to a corner in her hallway.

While the prank seems harmless, and might not fool most that it's another furry friend, the floating paper head convinces the kitty, and quickly becomes her nemesis!

As Natalia's cat sees the "intruder" peeking around the corner, alarm bells immediately start ringing.

Amusingly set to the theme music of Mission Impossible, the clip shows the animal staring wide-eyed at the cutout, then making attempts to slowly inch closer to the supposed opponent. Captions throughout the video highlight what the animal might be thinking.

"Wait for the end, how proud she is," Natalia writes.

Finally, the cat strikes the paper, and after a few paw strokes, realizes that danger seems to be averted.

TikTok and Instagram users love the cat prank

The curious cat clip has caused big buzz. It's accumulated more than 8 million views on TikTok and counting, plus hundreds more on Instagram. Users are loving the interaction.

"You got me, I also thought the paper was your real cat at first," wrote one user. "She came, she saw, she conquered! What a proud kitty," commented another.

"I'll have to try that with my dogs too," laughed another TikToker.

Natalia's pet seems to have survived the prank, and at the same time, become a minor-league internet star.

"Thanks," she wrote to her followers. "She is a badass!"
