Fort Worth, Texas - These two cats are up for adoption tears for a heartbreaking reason, but the internet buzz might just help them find the happily ever after they deserve!

Twitter users are shedding a tear over two cats named Pickle and Boots after @boyharsherlvr posted pics of two adorable adults cats and a note on their cage.

"We got here on Dec 31, 2022. Not one person has asked about us," the piece of paper says.

It continues with their heartbreaking story: "Our owner died and his best friend promised to take care of us. After the funeral, he took us to the shelter. We were heartbroken and miss him so much."

The tweet has since gone viral, with thousands liking and responding with that someone's best friend would turn the cats over to a shelter after promising to care for them.

Tons of Twitter users replied, with crying emojis, while others deplored the fact that they couldn't adopt the pair of cats.

Still other's jumped into action. One shared the news in their cat lovers groups, and another offered to pay the adoption fee to make, "make it easier for them to find a home."

According to the note, twelve-year-old black and white cat Boots and six-year-old tabby cat Pickles are a "bonded pair" and they are afraid of being split up.

Not long after @boyharsherlvr posted the pic, a follow-up tweet delivered some good news: "I’ve heard that a bunch of people have applied so fingers crossed." These two feline friends may get their forever home after all!
