Kansas City, Missouri - This cat's super jealous reaction to the dog getting some attention had millions laughing on TikTok. A golden retriever named Maple and an orange cat named Waffles' relationship is dramatic to say the least.

The relationship between these two animals from Kansas City is obviously strained, at best the two pets could be called "frenemies." They fight like, well, cats and dogs, and it's hysterical.

Last week, this orange cat named Waffles and a golden retriever named Maple went viral with a video of the cat freaking out and taking more than a few jealous swings at the doggo.

In the clip, both animals seem to be tolerating each other's presence until their owner decides to give the golden a few pets. The cat doesn't want the doggo to get that loving and attacks. Both Maple and her owner are shocked by the felines ferocity and hissing.

The clip titled "Waffles was just waiting for his moment" boasts a whopping 4.3 million views and some 630,000 likes after just one week.

In the comments, TikTok users shared all kinds of theories and jokes about this cat and dog pair.

Some think Waffles is trying to protect her dad from the dog: "Cat was protecting you." Others joked that she was trying to tell the doggo to pay attention to the movie or reprimanding the dog for being so cheerful all the time.

Still, other TikTokers sympathize with Maple the golden retriever: "Oh Waffles, Maple is just EXISTING!! Yeesh!!" Another added, "The dog looked so confused."

Animal studies suggest that when these two critters share a roof for a while, they start tolerating each other, even if cats and dogs do speak distinctly different languages and have different behaviors.

But if the duo's TikTok account is any indication, it doesn't seem like Waffles the cat is getting any closer to tolerating Maple the dog. At best, these two will remain frenemies!
