Cairo is a fluffy three-year-old Shiba Inu who is, according to his owners, "one of the friendliest dogs you'll ever meet."

This little guy is "sweet, strong-willed, stubborn, mischievous, and full of joy".

Cairo is at his best outdoors and the park is his happy place. He runs, jumps, and fetches and could easily spend the whole day frolicking around with his four-legged friends.

When the pandemic hit, however, playtime at the dog park became less and less frequent. Cairo was becoming increasingly lonely and agitated, sometimes howling to himself sadly.

A solution was needed, and his owners came up with one who now goes by the name Sultan!

The story of a beautiful friendship

Sultan provides some much-needed company

British shorthair Sultan was just three months old when he became part of the family and immediately captured his owner's hearts with his gentle nature.

Cairo, on the other hand, was skeptical of his new companion and didn't know what to make of him.

Even though their humans were careful not to let them get too close at first and kept them separated by a pet gate, the both of them seemed "slightly curious, but mostly cautious and unsure".

By no means was this love at first sight.

But it only took a couple of weeks for the ice to break – and then everything changed.

Playing is something this dynamic duo just can't get enough of

Today the cat and the dog are best friends!

The two have been inseparable ever since, showering each other with kisses and hugs on a daily basis. Sultan loves giving his bestie long massages and in return, Cairo lets the cat guide him around the house on a leash.

Six months after being introduced to each other, this dynamic duo is now happily living as a family and all the lockdown blues are gone.

This is truly a "uniquely adorable friendship!"
