Caldwell, Idaho - When the Caldwell fire department was called to rescue an animal from a treetop, they were shocked to find it wasn't a cat but a dog!

An overzealous doggo ended up in an unusual place after a wild squirrel chase, the Caldwell fire department said.

In an Instagram post, the fire department shared pictures of the stranded pup named Izzy high up in a treetop.

"Well, definitely not a cat in a tree. Caldwell Fire and Caldwell Police responded to a dog stuck in a tree, this afternoon," they wrote under the photos.

Fortunately, the animal was not harmed in his unusual adventure.

"After much coaxing, the canine was brought safely to the ground," the post continued. "Perhaps, he will not be so persistent, next time, in chasing squirrels."

Despite the incredible lengths he went to catch the squirrel, Izzy's owner, Christina Danner, said he was "never even close," according to the Huffington Post.

After the four-legged friend's heroic rescue, he was treated to a well-deserved meal at home.
