About seven hours earlier, Rajah, the couple's 18-month-old dog got scared by fireworks and ran straight from the family's backyard.

Her owners instantly set out to find her, canvassing the entire neighborhood and even created a post on Facebook.

"If you live around here please keep an eye out for her or if you know anyone who lives around this area please share with them!" the distraught Whitacre wrote on there.

But it was all in vain, and the young dog remained missing from the face of the earth.

It wasn't until three o'clock in the morning, when the doorbell suddenly rang, and the couple was finally able to breathe a sigh of relief. The little pup was sitting right in front of them, her tail wagging in excitement.

They were overjoyed – and baffled at the same time.

On Facebook, the dog owner shared a cry for help

The young puppy rang the doorbell all by herself – with her snout

Had someone taken Rajah home, rung the doorbell, and disappeared?

When Whitacre and her husband checked the footage from their surveillance camera, they were amazed to find that the young dog had been standing outside the door by herself the entire time.

The couple couldn't believe their eyes as they saw their beloved four-legged friend press down on the doorbell with her snout.

"We were dying laughing," the young woman smiled during an interview with Inside Edition.

Without further ado, Washick shared the bizarre video on Reddit, to the delight of more than 148,000 users.

On Facebook, the couple gave concerned friends a brief update: "We are so grateful and are so happy to have our girl back home."
