On July 4, 2020, Elissa DeMaria Battista's sweet four-legged friend went missing while on a family vacation in Ocean City, Maryland.

Since then, not a single day went by when the young New York native didn't do everything she could to find her beloved Boston Terrier named Fisher.

She handed out flyers, notified local authorities, and even started a Facebook group that now has 9,000 members.

Unfortunately, the efforts all seemed to be in vain: the little pup remained missing without a trace – until finally, almost 300 days after his disappearance, Elissa received a message.

One of her Facebook friends sent her a screenshot of a post reporting a dog found in Baltimore, about 140 miles away by car.

Elissa could hardly believe her eyes, but sure enough, it was her beloved Fisher!

Without hesitation, she packed up her things and set out to be reunited with her canine companion.

Video shows dog and owner falling into each other's arms

In a video currently making the rounds on social media, Elissa can be seen entering the room where her furry friend is patiently waiting for her.

She excitedly lets her eyes wander and nervously asks where the dog is, before all at once dropping to the floor sobbing.

What follows is probably the biggest and most beautiful hug ever: owner and dog fall into each other's arms.

As Elissa bursts into tears of joy and cries "Hi" and "Oh my God" over and over again, Fisher happily licks her face.

Fisher is alive and healthy!

As local media reported, a man picked up the stray on the road after the dog began chasing him. Elissa is now sure: the motorcyclist's beard must have reminded Fisher of her husband.

What the four-legged friend has been up to these past few months and where he's been hanging out, no one knows. But Elissa is convinced he's been well cared for: "He looks very well taken care of. He looks like he was loved. He does not look hungry. You know, he looks happy."

"We're grateful to whoever had him, but wow, are we grateful that we have him back!"
