Houston, Texas - A foster dog named Chance was in bad shape and needed emergency surgery. Although his vet wasn't sure he would survive after removing some unusual objects from his bowels, this pup beat the odds.

At the end of August, dog foster mom Monique decided to help a unique Pit bull mix that had been rescued by the animal organization PETronus in Houston, Texas.

When she took him in, he weighed just 37 pounds. Her plan was to nurse the super skinny doggo back to health and help him find a forever home. She thought it'd only be a matter of weeks and big portions of kibble.

But Chance was much more sick than he looked, and his intestines were blocked. The dog ultimately needed emergency surgery.

The procedure took five hours, but against all odds, Chance survived. The vet had to remove 12 inches of his intestines and some unusual objects: a nipple of a bottle, and the lid of a kid's cup that were lodged inside!

The major surgery ended up costing the rescue organization $10,000 dollars and depleted its funds. Monique and PETronus took to social media to share Chance's dramatic story, and monetary help poured in.

As Chance's journey gained steam, a recent video showing Chance's recovery instantly became a viral hit.

In the clip, Chance goes from a sick and skinny 37 pounds to a stocky, healthy 50.

Chance's dramatic story – and the hefty vet bill that came with it – has inspired animal lovers worldwide to contribute to PETronus' medical fund.

A dream chance, indeed.
