Keem Beach, Ireland - Beachgoers got to witness one of nature's wonders in Ireland when giant basking sharks decided to come and play in the shallow waters nearby.

A hairdresser from Ireland uploaded the amazing video on TikTok on Sunday, showing several people happily splashing in the sea at Keem Beach on Achill Island.

But the joyful mood suddenly changed when swimmers saw three sets of giant fins appear above the water nearby.

The beachgoers must have immediately identified the undersea animals because though it seemed they were in the company of giant monsters, nobody wanted to leave the water!

The unexpected beach party guests were two basking sharks that can grow up to forty feet long and weigh up to five tons. Their appearance caused some people to scream "Oh my God", but clearly it was an honor to have them nearby, as even children waded farther out into the waves to get a closer look.

Despite their creepy appearance, basking sharks are relatively harmless and not dangerous to humans, as they feed exclusively on plankton. This means they don't have jaws filled with razor sharp teeth to attack anybody with. Though their skin is rough and their powerful fins could possibly injure a swimmer, there are very few recorded incidents of this happening.

Some of the more than 230,000 viewers of the TikTok clip were not so placid about the situation, with one user warning, "This is an unpredictable situation regardless of whether it looks harmless, get out of the water!"

Another person WAS worried about the safety of the children: "Why are there still kids in the water? Or should I ask why are there still snack-sized people in the water?"

Apparently no one was injured during this spectacle, but swimmers should always leave the water in such situations to be on the safe side.
