Los Angeles, California - Is Britney Spears' biopic still headed for the big screen? Screenwriter Elizabeth "Liz" Meriwether spills the tea.

The New Girl creator gave Vanity Fair an update on the movie based on Britney's memoir, The Woman in Me, and why the timing is right to revisit the pop star's career.

"I'm really at the beginning of the process of thinking about it. But I do feel like what she experienced was pretty unique for the moment that it was happening, almost a perfect storm of attention and new forms of media," Meriwether shared.

"I do think it's the right time for this movie and the right moment to be looking back and thinking about it," the Furious writer further dished.

"I’m almost exactly her age, and I'm really excited to think about how to retell that story."

John M. Chu has been tapped to direct the biopic while Britney is said to be "very involved" in the project.
