Gypsy Rose Blanchard's ex‑fiancé Ken Urker sent cryptic message shortly before his death
Raceland, Louisiana – Just a few days ago, Gypsy Rose Blanchard's ex-fiancé Ken Urker suddenly passed away on his 34th birthday. Now, it has emerged that Urker sent a cryptic message about his mental state just a few weeks before his death.
A source close to Urker told Page Six that they had communicated with him only a few weeks before his death.
The insider said, "I checked in on him two weeks ago, just saying, 'Hey, just checking in. 'Cause I know it's a hard time for both of you.'"
Urker then reportedly replied, "I love you to bits. I'm surviving right now. But thanks for checking in."
The source initially didn't think much of it when Urker mentioned that he was "surviving." They assumed that, given the circumstances, he was doing okay.
The friend also revealed that Urker texted a few times saying things like, "I've got nobody."
"So I'm like, well, I'm here. So I felt like he didn't really [have support]," the source added.
Shortly after the 34‑year‑old's death, it also emerged that Urker and Gypsy Rose Blanchard had been living apart for several weeks. The source cited Urker's mental state as the main reason for the breakup.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard share a one-year-old daughter
"She wanted him back, obviously, and he just wasn't in the right frame of mind," an insider revealed. "His mental health wasn’t good for the past few months.'
Despite their split, Urker and Blanchard remained in contact as parents of their daughter. They continued to co‑parent together, and there was no animosity between them.
Urker met Blanchard in 2017 while she was in prison for the murder of her mother, Clauddine "Dee Dee" Blanchard.
They got engaged in 2018 but broke up a year later. Blanchard then married Ryan Scott Anderson in June 2022.
After two years, they ended their marriage. Shortly after, Blanchard and Urker got back together and welcomed their daughter in December 2024.
Over the weekend, Urker's family took a major swipe at Blanchard, with his sister saying they were "disgusted" by her behavior and alleging that she was "to blame" for Urker's death.
