New York, New York - Hilary Duff had a dramatic start to one of the biggest nights of her career after revealing she spent the morning in the emergency room with her daughter before taking the stage at Madison Square Garden.
The 38-year-old singer told a sold-out crowd on Wednesday that her five-year-old daughter, Mae, needed stitches just hours before the concert, per Page Six.
"My kids are here tonight," Hilary said during the show.
"I can't believe I get to show them this. We were in the ER this morning getting some stitches for my five-year-old."
The So Yesterday artist quickly reassured fans that Mae was doing well, adding, "It's all good," before joking that the unexpected hospital visit was perfectly on brand for her family.
"It's very 'our family-coded' that I would be playing my first show at MSG and also be in the emergency room getting my kid stitched up," she said, later praising her daughter by adding, "Mae Mae, you're very brave."
Hilary shares Mae, Banks (7), and Townes (1), with husband Matthew Koma.
She is also mom to 14-year-old Luca, whom she welcomed during her previous marriage to former NHL player Mike Comrie.
During an appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast earlier this year, Hilary admitted that motherhood often comes with overwhelming guilt, but said she's learned it's important to continue making time for herself and the career she loves.
The Disney Channel alum is currently traveling across the US on her Lucky Me tour, which continues through August before heading overseas for international dates.
