Los Angeles, California – Two actors walk into a grocery store… no, this isn't a joke! That's exactly what happened last Friday in Los Angeles, where Wizards of Waverly Place star David DeLuise crossed paths with a slimmed-down John Goodman.
"He was my childhood !! Legend", DeLuise wrote in the caption of an Instagram selfie that shows him alongside the 74-year-old Hollywood icon.
Goodman, who became a star in the late 1980s as family‑man Dan Conner on the sitcom Roseanne, was almost unrecognizable to some fans.
"Is that John Goodman????" a follower wrote under the selfie. "He's so much skinnier than I remember seeing him," another said.
In fact, the Golden Globe winner has shed quite a few pounds in recent years.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, the 6'2" Goodman, who once weighed nearly 400 pounds, revealed that he has lost about half of that through a recent health journey.
John Goodman opens up about his weight loss journey
According to IMDb, Goodman decided back in 2005, on his doctor's advice, to start living a healthier lifestyle. Quitting smoking was especially difficult for him.
In a 2016 interview with ABC News, the Monsters Inc. star admitted that he used to be "eating all the time."
And when he did fast for a while, he rewarded himself afterward with a six‑pack of Budweiser.
Eventually, something clicked. Goodman dedicated time to losing weight, exercised regularly, and stayed active.
Simply sitting around isn't an option at his age.
The actor appears to be living out those good resolutions to this day, as the viral snap proved!
