Kacey Musgraves goes viral with epic clap back at Kristi Noem referencing infamous dog shooting
Dallas, Texas - Country star Kacey Musgraves has gone viral after delivering an epic clap back at former Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, who took a swipe at Musgraves' recent endorsement of Texas Senate candidate James Talarico.
The online drama began when Talarico thanked the Grammy winner for having him at her recent performance in Dallas, where Musgraves sang directly to him in the front row.
Noem then weighed in on X, writing alongside a screenshot of Talarico's post, "I'll take @ellalangleymsic over Kacey Musgraves any day. And if I'm choosin' Texas, I'll take Ken Paxton over James Talarico."
The post referred to Ella Langley, the up-and-coming country darling who has topped the charts with her smash-hit single, Choosin' Texas.
This led Musgraves to clap right back on Monday with an X post of her own that instantly went viral.
"I don't think you have a dog in this fight but if you did you would have shot it," she wrote.
The dig was a nod to Noem's infamous admission that she shot her family's dog, who was just over a year old, because he was "untrainable."
The confession – written in Noem's own memoir – led to a wave of backlash that seemingly took her out of the running to be President Donald Trump's 2024 running mate, but she still managed to lead Homeland Security before being ousted in early March.
Interestingly, it appears that Langley didn't want to be associated with Noem either, as she untagged herself from the former South Dakota governor's post.
Meanwhile, Talarico, a Democrat, is in the lead to represent the traditionally red state in the Senate, though the race remains competitive.
