On Wednesday, Billy Ray posted on Instagram to comment on his daughter Miley Cyrus dropping "Cyrus" from her artist branding.

"Family means more than ever now. I always called my little girl Miley. Just … Miley," he wrote.

The Old Town Road artist went on to say that he went simply by "Cyrus" before his hit song Achy Breaky Heart blew up in 1992.

"I told @miley yesterday I felt good about her going with her first name," he continued, adding that it reminded him of her late godmother Dolly and Cher as well as other single-named icons like Elvis and Prince.

"It’s a natural progression for an iconic superstar legend. And the legend continues," he said.

The proud papa also mentioned that he was looking forward to his daughter's newly announced album, which is set to drop later this month.

He ended the post by jokingly adding that, had Mercury/Polygram let him keep the single name "Cyrus," then he may have become a bigger star.
