Miley Cyrus fires back after fans criticize her Hollywood Bowl shows: "I am fully present"
Los Angeles, California - Miley Cyrus has fired back at fans who had some harsh words about her recent sold-out show at the Hollywood Bowl.
After taking some significant time off from touring, the 33-year-old returned to the stage on Friday for the first of two shows at Los Angeles' Hollywood Bowl.
She treated fans to renditions of old hits like The Climb and We Can't Stop, along with newer tracks like Bass Persaudes and Orbit.
Shortly after the show wrapped, fans took to social media with some major complaints, including claims that Miley didn't actually seem to be singing much of the tracks.
"She maybe sang 20-30 minutes total out of a two-hour show," one concertgoer said on TikTok.
During her Sunday night show, Miley made it clear that she'd seen the feedback online – and she wasn't having it.
"I have never heard that I don't put my heart into something," she told the crowd, per The Hollywood Reporter.
The Flowers artist dismissed the comments as "clickbait" and said she wouldn't even "entertain" this narrative.
"I'll be honest, it is hard for me to stand up here and do this show. It does not come as natural as it once did," she admitted.
Still, she emphasized that these two shows weren't some kind of "experiment" to see if she was up to touring again, saying, "This is an experience for me. And you all make the experience possible."
Miley even confessed that she considered bailing on the show, but she refused to leave her fans disappointed.
"I can take a lot, but one thing I will not stand is any question about where my heart is when I'm on the stage. I am fully present," she said.
Why doesn't Miley Cyrus tour anymore?
Despite having some major success on the charts in recent years, Miley has kept performances to a minimum. Last July, she revealed that her sobriety has been a large part of the decision, as she fears life on the road could affect her "stability" in battling addiction issues.
"I do have the physical ability, and I have the opportunity to tour. I wish I had the desire, but I don't," she said simply.
Miley's Hollywood Bowl run has certainly proved she's still got what it takes and just might be a stepping stone towards more live shows down the road. Stay tuned!
