The pop star took to her Instagram story late Saturday to weigh in on the case that has made national headlines since Jane Doe filed a civil lawsuit that ultimately sparked the reopening of an investigation into her claims.

"Shame on Cornell and on every institution who protects rapists and abusers over women," Rodrigo wrote.

"I stand with Jane Doe. Her bravery reverberates across the country and the crimes against her will not go unpunished."

The Grammy winner called out "those who could have intervened but chose not to," and called for Jane Doe to receive the "answers, consequences, and lasting change" she deserves.

The case stems from a 2024 incident in which a female student was allegedly drugged with ketamine, assaulted, and raped by seven fraternity members. The horrific details outlined in Jane Doe's civil lawsuit have fueled national outrage, especially because of the Tompkins County District Attorney's initial decision not to prosecute the case.

The investigation has since been reopened, and New York Governor Kathy Hochul has appointed the state's Attorney General, Letitia James, as special prosecutor.

Rodrigo is not the first celebrity to weigh in on the case. Actor Florence Pugh fiercely condemned the Cornell 7 in social media statements, and she later claimed that Instagram had "censored" her comments.
