Selena Gomez makes stunning addiction confession as she explains voice changes
Los Angeles, California - Selena Gomez has gotten candid with fans about apparent changes in her voice, revealing in a new video that vaping played a major role.
In a clip shared to her Instagram story on Sunday, the 34-year-old said she wouldn't be able to get her voice back to how it used to sound because she "vaped nicotine a lot."
"Nicotine is so hard to quit, and I think I just wanted to say, if you're going through it or if you're even trying to vape, it's just not worth it," Gomez admitted.
She said that fans not liking her new voice was "understandable" and joked, "Just don't listen to it."
The Only Murders in the Building star shared she has been able to kick the habit but admitted that the journey has been "really hard."
"I just hope I can keep it up," she added. "If you are going through something, you can get through it too."
Back in December, Gomez had attributed the changes in her voice to swelling in her throat.
"I get weird. My throat kind of swells inside sometimes," she said. "That's all. That's good."
She didn't disclose what caused the swelling, with many fans presuming it was related to her battle with Lupus, a chronic autoimmune disease that can lead to inflammation.
Gomez received a kidney transplant from fellow actor Francia Raisa in 2017 to combat lupus nephritis, a severe inflammation of the organ caused by the autoimmune disease.
