Los Angeles, California – Despite her health challenges, singer and actor Selena Gomez remains determined to become a mother.

As AOL reports, the 34-year-old recently told the Fast Company Innovation Festival in New York how important it is to break the stigma surrounding mental health. She also shared her hope of becoming a mother someday.

According to the Daily Mail, she emphasized, "Eventually I'll have my own children, and this is something that I don't want to be taboo."

The discussion focused on her charitable initiative, the Rare Impact Fund, which works to raise awareness and provide support for mental health issues.

Gomez has previously offered personal insights into her health and its effect on her family‑planning decisions.

In 2024, Gomez revealed that her health conditions would make pregnancy dangerous for both her and the baby.

The Only Murders in the Building star suffers from, among other things, the autoimmune disease lupus and bipolar disorder.

"I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby's in jeopardy. That was something I had to grieve for a while," Gomez said.

She has since made peace with the situation and says she could imagine both adoption and surrogacy as options for starting a family.

On the Today Show this month, her husband, Benny Blanco, said he's "full court press" on the idea of having kids.

He even gushed over how excited he is to become a father on a recent podcast appearance.

"I'm not afraid. I mean, I, of course, want to be the best parent, the best partner. I'm excited when that day finally comes," he said on Open Book with Jenna.
