London, UK - Serious allegations against Meghan Markle's father are currently causing a stir. Thomas Markle Sr. is suspected in the Philippines of possessing child abuse material, and the latest reports have revealed the contents of the 45-year-old final message to her father.
According to The Sun, Meghan allegedly sent her father a letter in which she made it abundantly clear that he would never get to meet her children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Meghan also reportedly stated that he would never hear from her again.
The Duchess of Sussex ensured that the letter was handed to him personally, and he was also required to sign a form confirming receipt of the correspondence.
The 82‑year‑old firmly denies the accusations. In a statement, he called them "sick lies" and "bulls**t."
Although Meghan publicly distanced herself from her father years ago, the new allegations could further strain the already tense relationship between the former actor, her husband Prince Harry, and the British royal family.
Will the royal family further distance themselves from Meghan and Harry?
A royal expert explained that the accusations against Thomas Markle Sr. could further damage the royal family.
"This may give King Charles III the ammunition to take a firmer stance in distancing the monarchy from Harry and Meghan," royal insider Kinsey Schofield told Page Six.
"This isn't the Palace's mess, but unfortunately, the royal connection ensures it becomes part of the conversation," she added.
"The Sussexes are private citizens, and perhaps it’s time the Palace made that separation unmistakably clear."
Schofield does not expect a public statement from King Charles regarding the allegations against Meghan's father. Another source from Buckingham Palace expressed a similar view, calling the scandal "a matter for the Sussex Household."
After all, the royal family is already dealing with another scandal: former Prince Andrew, Duke of York. He has recently come under fire, among other things, for his ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
"The last thing it needs is another uncomfortable controversy involving people connected to the royal family," the expert said.
