Tucson, Arizona - It's been months since Today Show co-host Savannah Guthrie's mom, Nancy Guthrie, mysteriously disappeared from her Arizona home. But a former FBI agent is sharing what they think may help crack the case open and lead to identifying a suspect.
Guthrie was reportedly taken from her home in the early hours of February. Despite her daughter, Savannah Guthrie, and authorities offering a hefty cash prize for any information that leads to a break in the case or the discovery of Nancy, no leads have been publicly shared.
But former FBI special agent Maureen O’Connell recently revealed what she thinks may lead to authorities being able to crack the case wide open and identify a suspect, as none have been named publicly thus far.
When O'Connell was asked by journalist Brian Entin during an episode of Brian Entin Investigates if she thinks authorities are "listening to jail calls" in hopes of finding some type of lead in the case, O'Connell was quick to share her thoughts.
"The jail could absolutely 100 percent come into play, and it should," O'Connell said. "The narcotics officers at Pima County, I’m sure they’re working their jail informants. I’m sure they’re trying to develop informants. It’s what people do. Whenever people get arrested, and you have them at the police station ... you can ask them if there’s any cases [they] know about."
She further explained, "They all know that police are really hungry for information about Nancy. ... But the people being arrested, they know that too, and they’re gonna try to figure out a way to perhaps capitalize [on] it."
Investigators have not released much information to the public about the case other than sharing images taken from Nancy's home security camera of a masked person and apparent ransom letters.
Savannah has done her fair share of pleading the public for any help finding her mom, who relied on a pacemaker, adding to the strangeness of the case.
