Pumpkin carving inspo: "Nothing says 'scary' quite like a 2,000-pound furry mammal you’ve annoyed"

New York, New York – Halloween is just days away, but if you're still looking for pumpkin carving ideas, the National Park Service has your back. They've got offbeat carving stencils to inspire your gourd-goring. How about putting a buffalo or fat bear on your pumpkin?

Is there anything scarier than a bison launching someone into the air? Why not let the National Park Service inspire your Halloween pumpkin carving.

Pumpkin carving can be an ordeal, as any parent or perfectionist knows.

To avoid squashed dreams this Halloween, you could use a stencil, courtesy of the NPS.

"Nothing says “scary” quite like a 2,000-pound furry mammal you’ve annoyed launching you into another dimension. Or the tree above. Either way, it comes with a thud. Talk about a smashing Halloween," the National Park Service (NPS) wrote on Facebook Tuesday to announce its pumpkin carving stencils. They featured a picture of their "Close Encounter" stencil.

The NPS post got lots of attention. Over 10,000 social media users liked the post, which also reminded people to interact with wildlife safely.

"We always recommend admiring bison from a safe distance," the NPS noted and added. "They’re magnificent, unpredictable, and not particularly interested in your Halloween costume."

The NPS website offers six Halloween designs available to download. For inspiration, they've got bats, a spider web, and a wolf howling at the moon. You could carve a camper into your lantern.

There's even a stencil to turn your big pumpkin into a Fat Bear, for those feeling nostalgic about Fat Bear Week. Or you could also go sweet this Halloween and make a gourd full of glowing fall leaves.

What kind of Halloween pumpkin will you be carving this year? Do you dare go for a pumpkin bear?
