Athens, Georgia – A young college student seemingly had every guardian angel she could find perched on her shoulder Saturday night. Miraculously, 21-year-old Kristin Sargent survived a fall from the eighth floor!

CBS News reported, citing a police accident report from Athens‑Clarke County, Georgia, on the shocking details earlier this week.

According to the report, police officers, firefighters, and other emergency responders were dispatched at about 7:37 PM local time to an address just off the University of Georgia campus.

Witnesses told investigators on the scene that Sargent had been dancing on a couch or air mattress near an open window and, for reasons still unclear, lost her balance.

She then fell onto a screen that could not support her weight and was propped against the open window. Unfortunately, the student's apartment was on the eighth floor.

Sargent sailed uncontrollably into the depths and, according to reports, crashed into the pool area on the second floor of the building.

First responders found the student lying on the floor, right near a pool. During her fall, Sargent apparently also slammed into a metal bench.

The impact was strong enough to break off an armrest of the bench, and bloodstains were found on a seat cushion. Sargent was seriously injured and taken to a hospital.

Thankfully, current information suggests that the young woman is likely to survive.

The police classify the fall as a tragic accident and rule out any external interference, but an investigation is ongoing.
