Washington DC - New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez recently threw in her support for Florida Democratic Senate candidate and fellow Democratic Socialist Angie Nixon.

In a statement shared on Wednesday, AOC promised Nixon would be "an exemplary fighter for the working families of Florida."

"She did not get here by yielding to major political machines, she did it by building community power and fiercely committing to her values. That's why I'm proud to endorse her for the US Senate," she added.

In response, Nixon said she was honored for the endorsement, praising AOC as "a reminder of what's possible when you put the needs of the people first, instead of protecting the interests of the wealthy and well-connected."

"This endorsement adds fuel to an already energized campaign, reinforcing that people are looking forward to real change and representation," she wrote.

Nixon, who currently represents Florida's 13th District, is running for Senate and recently won her Democratic primary despite being massively outspent by her opponent.

In recent days, she has gotten a lot of media attention after far-right provocateur Laura Loomer launched racist attacks against her on social media.

The endorsement marks a huge win for Nixon, as polling has found AOC to be one of the most popular politicians in the country and a potential frontrunner in the 2028 presidential race.
