Jacksonville, Florida - Florida Democratic Senate candidate Angie Nixon shared her thoughts after conservative provocateur Laura Loomer launched an aggressive, racist attack against her.

In an interview with Newsweek, Nixon argued that hate and bigotry she has been facing during her campaign is a product of President Donald Trump's brand of MAGA politics.

"I've been called a dog… I've been called a monkey, an ape, a gorilla. Dumb, ignorant, stupid. I've been threatened," Nixon said.

"But that's what happens when you have people like Donald Trump and Ashley Moody that are spewing hateful, harmful rhetoric designed to divide us."

She went on to say that while the comments were "difficult" to read, she has become use to them as they have become "normalized."

The politician's reaction comes after Loomer shared a social media post calling Nixon a "ghetto b***h" who needed her "leash" tugged.

The remarks received heavy condemnation from Democrats, but Loomer has since doubled down.

While Republicans have notably remained silent, former Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene surprisingly stepped in, similarly arguing the comments were the product of Trump and MAGA.

When asked about Greene calling out Loomer, Nixon said it was "so wild that another person who has said some racist things came to my defense," but noted the two have repeatedly scrapped in the past.

"I also know that she pretty much just can't stand Laura Loomer," Nixon said. "I'm sure that's basically the main reason that she decided to speak out about it."

Loomer is a far-right commentator known for brazenly pushing misinformation and conspiracy theories. She memorably ran to represent Florida in Congress in 2020 and 2022, but lost both times.

She has since maintained a strong relationship with leading Republicans who are clearly enticed by the nearly two million followers she has on X.

She is now rumored to be serving as an unofficial advisor to President Trump, and has successfully nudged him to push policies and make decisions she supports.

Nixon recently won her Democratic primary race, and will continue on to face incumbent Republican Ashley Moody in the general election in November.

Her rapid rise has received a lot of negative attention from Republicans, who have sought to demonize her label as a Democratic Socialist.

Nixon said she holds no ill will towards Loomer, however, and suggested she may be dealing with deeper rooted issues.

"I am worried about Laura Loomer. I am worried about her health and safety and well-being," Nixon said. "My sister died from suicide and I would not want anyone to do anything like that."
