Obama scorches MAGA in campaign trail debut while Trump hits back: "Two years of chaos and cruelty"
Cleveland, Ohio - Former President Barack Obama recently gave a fiery speech in which he brutally criticized President Donald Trump and his administration ahead of the midterm elections.
On Saturday, Obama made his debut on the campaign trail at a rally in Cleveland to support gubernatorial candidate Dr. Amy Acton.
He delivered a speech in which he said the Trump administration is defined by "incompetence the likes of which we have not seen in modern times."
"As a former president, I can tell you sometimes factors beyond a president's control end up foiling the best-laid plans. That is not the case here," Obama said.
"In this case, this administration's actions are directly responsible for rising costs."
Obama criticized Trump's countless White House renovation projects, suggesting "He should be on HGTV."
"He's got the White House looking like Saddam Hussein opened a Cheesecake Factory. Just gold everywhere," the former president joked.
He further described the president as a "grifter", described his term thus far as "two years of chaos and cruelty and corruption," and insisted his administration is filled with "not serious people."
The fiery speech comes with Election Day only a week and a half away, when Republicans will desperately fight to maintain their majority in the House and Senate.
Trump calls Obama "grossly incompetent" in fiery response
While this was the first event Obama has attended since the midterms, Trump has been on the campaign trail for weeks, and Obama's speech definitely caught his attention.
On Saturday evening, Trump spoke at a rally in Detroit, during which he said he saw Obama's speech – mistakenly telling the crowd the former president's Ohio appearance took place in Michigan – and launched a long rant comparing their crowd sizes, a subject he has focused on over the years.
But his anti-Obama rhetoric didn't end there, as the president later took to social media to air out more grievances with Obama.
Early Sunday morning, Trump shared a Truth Social post slamming Obama as "grossly incompetent," and suggested that every candidate he supports ends up losing.
