London, UK - Right-wing provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos is now backtracking on his longtime support for President Donald Trump after he was "brutally" deported out of the US.

In a recent interview, Yiannopoulos described his experience of going through the immigration system as "humiliating and disorienting," and something he "wouldn’t wish it on anyone."

"It was physically degrading, it was frightening. I don't think I've ever been frightened like that before," he explained.

"I was weeping like an old woman for an hour. And I was like, 'Oh, I really have got to get this out of my system.'"

Yiannopoulos was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents at New Orleans International Airport last Thursday and deported back to the UK the following day.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) alleges he arrived in the country in 2019 and willfully overstayed his visa. Yiannopoulos denied the allegations, claiming he is currently married to an American citizen, who's an O-1 visa holder.

Yiannopoulos went on to say that despite his past enthusiasm for Trump's aggressive immigration agenda, he now believes he was mistaken.

"To think that the promise and hope and joy and anticipation of Trump 2016 could... collapse into this ugly, war-mongering – taken as a whole, mentally ill heap of crazy with some of the most unstable and lunatic people seemingly directing the president's actions," he said.

"If I had any clue that anything remotely like this was even possible, I would never have gotten involved in supporting Trump in the first place," he added. "And I'm very ashamed that I did."
