Alexandria, Virginia - A judge has ordered Donald Trump's administration to reveal the identities of the people behind the president's highly unpopular MAGA slush fund.

According to The New York Times, Magistrate Judge Ivan Davis issued the ruling on Friday, which seeks to unveil the masterminds that put together the plan to create a $1.8 billion fund to compensate those Trump claims have been wronged by political prosecutions, such as convicted January 6 Capitol rioters.

The fund emerged as part of an extraordinary settlement of Trump's civil lawsuit against the Internal Revenue Service over the leak of his tax returns by a former government contractor.

The Department of Justice negotiated terms of the plan with Trump's personal attorneys behind closed doors.

Friday's ruling came in response to a lawsuit that challenged the fund's legality, and a provision that sought to grant the president, his family, and his businesses protections against all past tax investigations.

An attorney for the plaintiff's described the ruling as "a significant step in getting to the bottom of the slush fund."

The plan for the fund was met with surprising pushback from Republicans, a handful of whom refused to approve Trump's appointment of Todd Blanche to head the DOJ unless he vowed to abandon the plan.

While Blanche agreed, and has insisted the plan is dead, Trump has expressed interest in finding other legal avenues to make it happen.
