Washington DC - President Donald Trump's administration recently announced that the government will no longer pay for minors to receive gender-affirming care.

On Tuesday, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services published a final rule that prohibits federal funds from Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program from being used to cover gender transition surgery, puberty blockers, or hormones for minors.

The new rule will officially take effect on October 13, though current beneficiaries receiving hormone therapy will continue to receive coverage for six months as a "tapering-off period."

For years, Trump has attacked the trans community, and in his second term, he has continued to push policies seeking to strip their rights even further.

In a Truth Social post shared Tuesday, Trump said the move was made at his direction, as he believes the government should not "pay for our innocent children to undergo these barbaric surgeries and practices, which result in unthinkable and irreversible harm to their young bodies."

"While the Dumocrat Party wants your kids to be able to chop off their reproductive organs before they are old enough to vote, President Donald J. Trump (ME!) and the Republican Party say that is ABSURD," Trump wrote.

Trump also appears to believe that most Americans feel the same way he does, as he added, "Please remember this when you are casting your vote in the Midterm Elections in November."
