Trump calls for journalists to be arrested for claiming his rally had empty seats

Washington DC - President Donald Trump had another meltdown online after a news outlet claimed a rally he recently headlined had some empty seats.

Over the weekend, The New York Times published an article about a rally speech the president gave at a high school gym in Ohio on Saturday.

Trump has since been obsessed with the outlet's claim that "several areas of an upper deck were empty" as he concluded his speech.

In a Truth Social post shared on Monday, Trump shared a video of a long line of MAGA fans desperate to get into the event, as well as photos of the packed gymnasium, which has a capacity of 4,500 people.

"The New York Times, and many other Artificial Media Outlets, should be arrested for their dishonesty and disservice to our Country," Trump wrote.

In a follow-up post, he argued the "arena" was "MAXED OUT," and claimed people at his "SOLD OUT" rallies seated in the upper sections "tend to migrate down to the Main Floor."

The Republican has long been obsessed with the size of his rally crowds and how they are portrayed by the media in comparison to his political adversaries, such as Barack Obama and Kamala Harris.

In one of his posts, Trump claimed the Times "make it sound like it's the biggest event that ever took place" whenever Senator Bernie Sanders pulls "500 to 1,000 people" at events.

Trump has long targeted The New York Times over their negative reporting on him and has recently been pushing an effort to block outlets he doesn't like from covering him at the White House, including MS NOW and CNN.
