Washington DC - President Donald Trump again used a social media post to launch a string of shocking attacks against the free press, labeling them "a threat to our national security."

"The White House is not instituting an assault on the Free Press, something which I cherish," Trump claimed in an angry and rambling post to Truth Social on Monday morning.

"It is instituting an assault on the FAKE NEWS, something that has grown like Cancer in our beloved United States of America," he complained.

"It is corrupt, purposeful, pervasive, fully coordinated, and totally out of control. It is a threat to our National Security, and must be stopped, NOW!"

Trump's latest ramblings come a day after reporters and staff from CNN, POLITICO, and MS NOW were barred entry from the White House's ground and had their passes confiscated by Secret Service agents.

"Without notice or process, the White House revoked our journalists' credentials because it objected to our reporting," all three outlets declared in a joint statement put out on Monday.

"Left unchallenged, this threatens press freedom and the public's right to independent journalism free from government interference."

Trump had unveiled his plan to ban the three news organizations on Friday, accusing them without specifics of reporting "fiction and lies" about his administration.

This latest assault on the free press is but another in a long string of attacks from Trump and his cabinet, who have regularly demeaned members of the press instead of answering the questions put to them.
