Washington DC - President Donald Trump faced off against former attorney Michael Cohen, who testified against him to Congress in 2019, in a bizarre and somewhat deferential radio interview.

Michael Cohen's new interview with Trump, held over a live phone call into the former's radio show, saw the two past allies dote over one another after more than half a decade of stiff adversity.

The two had fallen out during Trump's first term, Cohen testifying to Congress as part of the investigation into hush money paid to adult actress Stormy Daniels during the 2016 election campaign.

Despite Cohen having once described Trump as a "racist, a conman, and a cheat," none of that past animosity was on display on Thursday. Instead, Cohen fawned over the two-time president and even quoted a Bible verse about forgiveness.

At one point, Cohen reminisced about how he'd once been given "one of those traditional Trump slaps on the shoulder."

"Boss, you remember when I was by your side? I literally used to analyze the polls," Cohen asked. "You remember how much attention I used to pay to that methodology?"

"I would come in, I would say to you, 'Oh, they're claiming that you're 31%, that you are underwater,' but I showed you that, that the situation…"

"The polls are crooked!" Trump interjected. "The reporters, as you know, are crooked – many of them."

While the duo generally avoided the topic of their contentious last few years, Trump did touch on Cohen's testimony, saying his former attorney had been "weaponized… like nobody's ever been weaponized."

"They weaponized a lot of people, and I respect the fact that you recanted everything you said," Trump said.

"The good memories don't cease to exist simply because terrible ones followed them," Cohen said. "True loyalty doesn't mean pretending that you were never hurt."
