Washington DC - President Donald Trump slammed MS NOW's Joe Scarborough and comedian Bill Maher in a series of bizarre social media meltdowns targeting his opponents in the media.

"Joe Scarborough’s show has been cut way back, and will soon be 'dead!'" Trump posted to Truth Social on Monday, referencing MS NOW's Morning Joe program. "Too predictable and boring! REALLY BAD RATINGS, just like the rest of MSNOW (MSDNC!)"

His social media tirade likely came in response to criticism he received from Scarborough over a recent taxpayer-funded television ad from the Trump administration, which aired during several football games over the weekend.

The political advertisements warned of a "final battle" in which US voters need to defeat the "deep state." It renewed Cold War-era red scare tactics about a communist threat that seeks to destroy the American way of life.

"When I saw, at the end of that ad, 'Paid for by the US Government,' that was such an Orban, Putin move," Scarborough had pointed out on Monday. "You have the centralized state, the behemoth centralized state, big government, stealing taxpayer dollars to run a political advertisement."

"If you are at home and you pay taxes, you are paying for this political ad as one poll after another poll shows that the politician in this picture has the lowest approval rating on record."

Trump's polling numbers have been consistently low for months – a fact he repeatedly denies and labels fake news. Last week, a new Reuters/Ipsos poll showed that his approval rating has dropped to a shocking 32% low.

"Bill Maher's ratings are so low that it is hard to believe his show can continue," Trump wrote in an earlier post to Truth Social, referencing his Real Time with Bill Maher program on HBO. The comedian has often used to show as a platform to criticize Trump.

"In many ways it's SAD because, in actuality, I like him. Republicans should stop using him as a sounding board, however. It makes them look sooo weak and foolish!"

Maher, who recently receive the Mark Twain Award for Humor, has a complicated history with the president, whom he has supported and criticized at various points throughout his career.

In April last year, Maher met with Trump at the White House for a private dinner put together by musician and staunch MAGA supporter Kid Rock. Despite his earlier criticism of the president, he emerged from the meeting with nothing but praise.

"Everything I've ever not liked about him was, I swear to God, absent at least on this night with this guy," he said after the dinner, even claiming that he had openly criticized Trump's policies and behavior to his face.

"A crazy person doesn't live in the White House, a person who plays a crazy person on TV a lot lives there, which I know is f**ked up," Maher said during a show broadcast after the dinner. "It's just not as f**ked up as I thought it was."
