Washington DC - President Donald Trump is planning on spending at least $250,000 on renovating the White House's two-lane bowling alley, an administration spokesperson has confirmed.

The Executive Office of the President awarded a $253,000 government contract for a so-called "lighting project" in the White House's basement bowling alley, located beneath the Eisenhower Executive Office Building.

Federal procurement data looked over by the New York Times established the contract was awarded to Charles Mann Enterprises, a firm founded by a three-time Super Bowl champion who used to play for the Washington Commanders (under their previous name).

A White House spokesperson said Trump was not directly involved in the project, and clarified that the money would be spent to cover the facility's upkeep and fix broken lighting systems.

In 1947, then-President Harry S. Truman was gifted the bowling alley for his 63rd birthday. President Dwight D. Eisenhower moved the alley in 1955 to its current location, and President Richard M. Nixon built a separate alley underneath the White House in 1973.

Trump was actually the last person to renovate the alley located beneath the White House in 2019, when it was in need of repairs.

The bowling alley project is the next renovation project Trump has embarked on in his second term, first paving over the White House Rose Garden and building a large concrete patio in its place.

Over the year and a half since he reentered the White House, the president has covered the building in lavish furnishings and hundreds of golden decorations.

Most notably, Trump knocked down the entire East Wing of the White House and embarked on a massive, $400 million ballroom project.
