Washington DC - President Donald Trump recently launched a 24/7 livestream channel dedicated to himself and his administration, but the public's reception has been lackluster, to say the least.
The administration officially launched the project on Monday – days after Trump abruptly banned CNN, MS Now, and Politico from the White House over allegations of "false" reporting.
According to The Daily Beast, the livestream began by showing Trump's speech at Mount Rushmore on July 3, with the outlet recording around 8,500 viewers 20 minutes in.
But after an hour, the channel showed footage of the 2025 inauguration, and viewership had dropped to 3,800.
When TAG24 NEWS reviewed the channel on Wednesday morning, it was airing a press conference featuring Vice President JD Vance and had only 850 viewers.
Trump TV appears to be an effort by Trump and his MAGA allies to be able to push their narratives – true or false – without having to rely on, or be challenged by, the mainstream media.
In an X post, the president's deputy assistant Kaelan Dorr described Trump TV as "a 24/7 livestream of the Administration's greatest hits, unfiltered."
It's unclear what the administration's plans are for the project, which has drawn heavy criticism and even comparisons to state-run media from dictatorial countries like North Korea.
Former Trump administration aide Stephanie Grisham wrote in an X post, "You know who else does this? Russia, China, and Iran to name a few..."
