Washington DC - The Department of Education on Wednesday shared a video to social media that users pointed out appeared to positively compare Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler.
The a video seemed to be meant to make Trump appear tough and ruthless, opening with a clip of a man aggressively stating: "You cannot reason with a tiger when your head is in its mouth!"
It then cuts to clips of Trump doing presidential things, like attending rallies, attending sporting events, and hanging out with UFC CEO Dana White.
"No one does it like us," the department captioned the post, along with a tiger emoji.
X users were quick to point out that the opening clip was taken from the 2017 film Darkest Hour, a biopic about former UK Prime Minister Winston Churchill. The scene depicts the leader, played by actor Gary Oldman, discussing the dangers of Adolf Hitler.
The post quickly received criticism, including from the Headquarters account of former Vice President and Trump's 2024 presidential race challenger Kamala Harris, which wrote: "They fired the employees who help fund teachers and students but kept the taxpayer-funded fancam editor."
The department quickly took down the post soon after, and has not bothered to publicly address the backlash.

For years, critics have compared President Trump's arguably dictatorial leadership and hateful rhetoric to Hitler.
Before he was picked to be his right-hand man, Vice President JD Vance was a fierce critic of Trump, once writing describing him as "America's Hitler" and "reprehensible" over his immigration views.
Vance has since drastically evolved out of his "Never Trump" era into becoming one of the president's biggest sycophants.
During the 2024 presidential race, Trump faced multiple accusations of appearing to quote Hitler, to which his campaign reacted by calling critics "snowflakes."
In rally speeches, he repeatedly told crowds of MAGA fans that immigrants were "poisoning the blood of our country," a quote that many pointed out seemed to come straight from Hitler's memoir Mein Kampf.
Despite insisting he "never read" the book and he is "not a student of Hitler!" he continued to aggressively push the rhetoric.
In October 2024, shortly before the elections, Trump's former presidential chief of staff and retired Marine general John Kelly told The New York Times that the politician had once remarked to him that "Hitler did some good things too." He reportedly said he wants "generals like Adolf Hitler had" in the US military if he wins.
Since becoming president, Trump has damaged America's relationship with its foreign allies, teamed up with Israel in its genocidal war in Gaza, and threatened to wipe out Iran's entire civilization after launching a war against the country.
