According to The Miami Herald, two anonymous women on Monday filed a federal civil lawsuit claiming Gaetz and two others – former Florida state legislator Chris Dorworth and former Seminole County tax collector Joel Greenberg – built a system in which they exploited young, vulnerable women through paid sexual encounters and drug use.

The suit claims that Jane Doe 1 and Jane Doe 2 – who were 20 and 22 at the time, respectively – were recruited through a website by Greenberg, who then introduced them to a group of men that included Gaetz and Dorworth.

The women, along with others, were allegedly taken to parties at private homes where they were supplied with drugs.

Between 2017 and 2019, Jane Doe 1 alleges that Gaetz paid her over $6,000, while Jane Doe 2 claims to have received over $4,000. Jane Doe 1 also says she witnessed Gaetz having sex with a girl who was 17 at the time.

In a statement to The Herald, the Republican described the recent allegations as "false," arguing that they rely "almost exclusively" on a damning Congressional report that sank his political career. He added that he looks forward to facing his accusers in court.

Gaetz also shared an X post trivializing the allegations and included a screenshot from an Instagram post from what appears to be one of his accusers enjoying a vacation in the Bahamas – one of the locations Gaetz allegedly trafficked women.

"I'm shocked nobody responded to their repeated cries for help, posted to Instagram," Gaetz wrote.

Gaetz was elected to represent Florida's 1st District in 2017 and established himself as a staunch MAGA loyalist to President Donald Trump.

Trump tapped Gaetz in 2024 to be Attorney General – a controversial choice, as the congressman was facing a House Ethics Committee investigation into alleged sexual misconduct and drug use.

Gaetz attempted to sabotage the investigation by abruptly resigning from Congress, but the committee ultimately voted to release the report to the public, which revealed he paid tens of thousands of dollars to women for sex or drugs on at least 20 separate occasions.

Despite the revelations, the Department of Justice chose not to charge him, and Gaetz has maintained his status in MAGA as a news reporter for One America News.

The recent lawsuit, which was filed by Florida lawyer Spencer Kuvin, incorporates many of the findings of the Ethics Committee probe.

Kuver recently called out Gaetz for his social media post downplaying the lawsuit and warned he was "copying everything" to present to a judge.

Gaetz, doubling down on his initial insinuation, responded back asking, "Is that your client in the photo? Celebrating her vacation? And now alleging wrongdoing?"
