White House feels "pretty good" about deal with Iran as Trump says "it could happen!"

Washington DC - Vice President JD Vance said Monday that he and President Donald Trump were optimistic about securing a deal with Iran, after Tehran revealed indirect negotiations with Washington.

"The president and I both feel pretty good about the prospects for potentially coming to a negotiated settlement," Vance told reporters. "We've certainly made some progress. We'll see if we can make some more."

President Trump on Monday said a deal with Iran was possible after Tehran signaled negotiations with Washington and offered to reopen the Strait of Hormuz under strict conditions.

"Oil Prices are DROPPING LIKE A ROCK, down almost $10 a Barrel, A RECORD, because people feel that there will not be a War with Iran. Iran wants a settlement as soon as possible. It could happen!" Trump posted ahead of Tuesday's midterm elections.

Nearly 26 minutes into a rambling speech on Monday at the Reflecting Pool in DC, Trump said, "This is the last day before the midterm elections, the most important midterm I believe in our lifetime."

Polls show Democrats poised to seize a majority in the House of Representatives and within reach of the Senate in Tuesday's vote – a shift that would impose the first real political constraints on the president since he took office nearly two years ago.
