Jill Stein hit with arrest warrant after failing to show for court appearance

St. Louis, Missouri - A warrant for the arrest of former Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein was recently issued – and dropped – after she failed to show for a court appearance.

On Monday, a warrant was issued and later dropped for the arrest of Green Party politician Jill Stein after she failed to show up for a court appearance.

According to Newsweek, Stein and her legal team were scheduled to appear in court on Monday morning at 9 AM in St. Louis, but after they were a no-show, Judge Karma Johnson issued a "failure to appear warrant" for the politician's arrest.

The judge later dropped the warrant at the request of Stein's attorney Joseph Welch, who appeared in court that afternoon.

In April 2024, Stein attended a protest at Washington University against Israel's war on Gaza. After several warnings to leave, police officers were sent in to make arrests.

Stein got into a scuffle with one officer on a bicycle, whom she allegedly kicked and caused several injuries to.

She is now facing two misdemeanor charges – one count of first-degree trespassing and one count of fourth-degree assault.

In an interview, Stein conversely claimed she was "assaulted by a bicycle" and "thrown onto her head."

Jill Stein's role in politics

Stein is a Green Party member and environmental activist who has run for president multiple times, most memorably in 2024 against Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.

Despite calls for her to drop out over fears she would draw votes away from Democrats, Stein painted herself as an alternative to corporate and moderate Democrats. She stayed in the race until the end, ultimately gaining only around 0.4% of the vote.

The case against Stein will proceed, as Judge Johnson has scheduled her to appear again in the St. Louis court on September 14.
