In a press release shared on Saturday, the White House announced the program had secured $7.2 million, with MMR Group Inc., an electrical contracting company based in Baton Rouge, donating $5 million, and the rest coming from contributions made by LSU Foundation donors.

The program is the latest move from the first lady's Be Best and Fostering the Future initiatives.

That same day, Melania attended a football game between LSU and Alabama, another school participating in the program. The Tigers lost the game to the Crimson Tide 31-13.

"As adults, we have a moral obligation to our children, especially those in foster care. But, as you know, we must act to truly make a difference. The foster care community doesn't need words," Melania said during a brief speech.

To celebrate, LSU wore special jerseys and helmets that featured the branding for the first lady's initiatives. Officials for the match also agreed to use a Challenge Coin that featured the first lady's name for the game's coin toss.

The program comes as Melania has been quietly leading her own initiatives – which have focused on younger Americans – in her husband Donald Trump's second presidential term.

It also comes as Amazon prepares to soon release a two part documentary serious about the first lady following a massively expensive film that flopped at the box offices.
