Washington DC - A plane carrying Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin was forced to make an emergency landing in Washington on Wednesday after one of its engines failed.

"The United States Coast Guard pilots made the single engine landing feel routine," Mullin wrote on X.

"No panic, just straight professionalism. After we landed, the pilots told me that was a first for them!" he continued.

"We could not have been in better hands."

A total of 14 people were on board, according to a post by local outlet DMV Live News that Mullin shared on X.

The plane lost its right engine mid-flight and diverted to Reagan Airport in Washington for an immediate landing, the report said.

The flight's intended destination was not immediately clear.
