Boston, Massachusetts – When Lori and her husband moved to Boston in 2021, they soon noticed a cat in the neighborhood who kept appearing on their property. The couple, who already owned a dog and another kitty at the time, began to wonder what the cat was after...

"[Lori's husband] started seeing her more often, like in the morning when he'd leave to go to work, and he would hear her meowing outside the door," Lori told The Dodo.

In the end, the neighbors confirmed his suspicion: the cat named Luna had once lived in the couple's house and had been abandoned by her owners and asked the neighbors to feed her.

Nevertheless, Lori wasn't sure it made sense to let the feline inside.

"She seemed perfectly content outside, I thought she would hate being an indoor cat!" she told the outlet.

But then, Luna did something that changed Lori's mind in an instant.

The furry friend stood on her hind legs and scratched desperately at the door.

"The day she scratched on the door is the day she came in," Lori said.

However, Lori's dog and other cat were still there. The pets had to get to know each other first, and after a somewhat rocky start, the animals soon got along well.

"[She] never wanted to go outside after that," Lori said, adding, "She was a very happy indoor cat, and she got along beautifully with our other pets."

Tragically, Lori's first cat and her dog both passed away within the first two years after Luna arrived.

It was a hard time for Lori. Looking back she says, "Turns out I needed Luna just as much as she needed me."

Since then, a lot has happened. Lori and her husband left the house and moved to California with Luna. There, the cat lived a good life, but she sadly passed away unexpectedly a few days ago.
